IPN Group started off as a research project exploring how Distributed Ledger Technology and Smart Contracts could help join up Government. The key finding from the research project was that smart workflow had the potential to create significantly more value for citizens than currently provided; for an overview see the Internet of Public Value published in the Journal of the British Blockchain Association. In spring 2018, HM Land Registry ran a public procurement seeking a delivery partner to help explore with industry how Distributed Ledger Technology and Smart Contracts could make the property buying and selling process faster, simpler and cheaper. IPN Group applied its core methodology of collaborative open innovation and co-operative platform delivery to the bid response and were successful against strong competition from 22 other organisations, including global technology leaders.
